Michael is a passionate advocate for neurodiversity in recruitment. Realising the majority of working-age people with autism are unemployed or in jobs that don't use their skills, he established Xceptional. This recruitment company aims to place people with autism in jobs aligned with their strengths, such as cyber security, data analytics and software testing roles. He is now developing an app that will post jobs in autism-friendly ways – using simple English and diagrams to explain the role. It will also feature assessment activities to help candidates identify strengths. Through this app, Michael aims to place 1,000 Australians with autism in jobs over three years.
