Kath's nephew was born with a neuroblastoma tumour pressing on his spine that left him paralysed. Like many wheelchair users, he experiences recurring health complications, which Kath is determined to help him manage. She has drawn on her technology background to develop loop+, which uses sensor pads fixed to wheelchairs. Connected to a mobile app, they continuously measure seated pressure, position and movement to manage health risks in everyday life. Kath is working alongside her sister and a small team to bring this innovative system – which has been called a "Fitbit for your bum" – to wheelchair users in Australia and beyond.
