As a musician, Melanie understands how hard it is for artists to make a living in this digital age. Added to dwindling live opportunities, large streaming services provide meagre returns to independent artists. For example, a song would need to be streamed on a global platform 1,000 times to cover the cost of a coffee. This is why Melanie and her co-founder are developing The Pack - a tech-based social enterprise that uses artificial intelligence and geo-location to stream local music and increase artist royalties and exposure. Her goal is to see bars, restaurants, shops and venues nationwide use The Pack to share local music, helping businesses become arts patrons.
