The youngest of 11, David grew up on a farm in south-west Queensland surrounded by nature, dogs and a loving family. This solid start, and his work as an animal behaviourist, dog trainer and presenter, gave ‘Farmer Dave' the tools he needed to co-found RuffTrack in 2019. It provides at-risk young people in the Hawkesbury Region with the safety, skills and support to change their behaviours and reconnect with country and their community. Over 10 weeks, each RuffTrack participant works with a dog to learn how to build positive relationships, communicate and undertake farm work. The young people also use their new-found trade skills and confidence to support the local community. This grant will enable RuffTrack to buy equipment to help young people to learn, grow and give back.
